about
hello, I’m Laura. Thirty-something Londoner, who loves to doodle.
Ironically, when I started this journey I really couldn't draw. Some may argue that I still can't.I tried Couch-to-5k and busted my ankle, I tried candle making and tie-dyed t-shirts. I watched the entirety of the Simpsons.
What started as a whim during the Covid-19 pandemic has grown into an exciting creative journey. In 2020, I bought an iPad and Procreate to doodle my way through lockdown. With no formal training, I began self-teaching and experimenting, turning small, messy sketches into vibrant, meaningful art. Four years later, I’m still here, creating and loving every minute of it.

I specialise in doodles, illustrations, and pattern design, with one main rule: the brighter, the better. While my wardrobe is mostly black, my artwork is an explosion of color. A lot of my early pieces focused on mental health, using cheerful tones and positive messages to bring a lighthearted spin to serious topics. It’s incredibly rewarding to know my art might brighten someone’s day or put a smile on their face.
I work exclusively on Procreate, drawing everything by hand with my Apple Pencil. My Instagram handle, @laura_cant_draw, is a cheeky nod to where I started – no fancy qualifications, just a love for doodling and a dose of self-deprecating humour.
My inspiration comes from all over – pop culture, nostalgia, puns (I love a good pun), and personal experiences, including my life with Tourette’s. Whether it’s a spark from a song lyric or a moment of curiosity out in the world, my process is spontaneous and full of joy.
At its heart, my art is fun, playful, and packed with positivity. I hope it resonates with you, brings you joy, or maybe just makes you laugh. Thanks for stopping by – I’m so excited to share my journey with you!
